Facilitators

The ongoing course facilitator will be an experienced trainer. An outside facilitator, probably one of the Diploma tutors, will work with students during at least one of the weekends. All teaching staff are experienced trainers and/or supervisors, and are likely to be BACP or UKCP registered.

Accreditation

This course is accredited by the Awarding Body Consortium and is run in collaboration with City (Handsworth) College. At the end of the course those completing successfully will be awarded a nationally recognized and accredited Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Skills.

Course Details:

The course runs for 150 accredited hours over one academic year, with a maximum of 12 students. The course runs weekly during term on Thursday evenings, and is designed to prepare students for the Diploma. Please see below for the course dates. It is suitable for people who have not completed any previous counselling training and no experience is necessary to join.

Personal Counselling:

There is a requirement that during the course (started within the first two terms) you will undertake a minimum of six sessions of personal counselling. We can provide help with finding an appropriate therapist and some therapists working here give discounts to our students.

Course Fees:

Self paying £490 (Sponsored £560), plus an accreditation fee of £53 (the accreditation fee may rise slightly). Help may be available via the College to people with low incomes. Course fee payments can be made in three installments.

  • Weekend dates are marked in bold.
  • Weekend sessions will run from 9.30 am until 5.30pm Saturday and Sunday.
  • Tea, coffee, spring water and use of the kitchen are available for all our students

The course is open to anyone to apply so if you would like to be considered for a place please call 0121 429 1758 to arrange an informal interview with Deb Williams. There is no need to complete an application form. If offered a place, a non-refundable deposit of £50 will be required, payable to BCT (Birmingham Counselling Training).
