At the Centre

Birmingham Counselling Centre has a range of over 45 counsellors and Psychotherapists working at our attractive premises by Warley Woods. The cost of an hour's therapy is from £55 down to £6 (for self-referrals) depending on the therapist's experience, with couples therapy being at the higher end of the scale. Our Counselling and Psychotherapy trainees, who have all had several years training will work at the lower end.

We are available seven days a week day-time and evenings and currently over 450 hours of counselling takes place each month with people from all parts of the community. We have become so popular that we have opened a second centre, we now work at 127 and 131 Pottery Road. We also have some rooms at Abbey Road, in Bearwood.

People come for counselling about all kinds of issues. These can include relationships, bereavements, abusive experiences, addictions, depression, family problems and more.

If you are looking to arrange counselling for yourself, or are interested on behalf of somebody else please call the Centre on 0121 429 1758, or email us.

Therapists

We are in the process of including some brief details of some of the therapists who work at the Centre to provide a flavour of the range of choice available. We hope to develop these through 2006/7.

Peter Chidwick trained and worked as a counsellor with Relate from the early 1980s. In 1998 he began in private practice at Birmingham Counselling Centre, having successfully completed a B.Phil Degree in Counselling at Westhill College, University of Birmingham, and a Certificate in Marital and Couple Counselling with Relate. Soon after this, in 2000, he became accredited as a Counsellor with BACP. Now he is in training as a Jungian Analytical Psychotherapist with the West Midland Institute of Psychotherapy. He works with people at depth, once, twice or three times a week, offering an open-ended therapeutic relationship. He also has some spaces for shorter term more focused work with individuals and couples.
